Colorado Roads14 Muddy Pass to Rustic 93 miles
14 starts at the intersection of 40 at Muddy Pass at 8772ft; 5.6% grade. Due to the topography of the area, Muddy Pass isn't really a typical pass, it's actually downhill the whole way from the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass to the "summit" of Muddy Pass. From Muddy Pass to Walden, the road is straight and flat, a bit boring. The mostly straight road continues until reaching Colorado State Forest, although in the distance you see huge mountains and you think you will be riding towards them, you never do. Finally the fun begins as you ride though Cameron Pass at 10,276ft; <4% grade. It's really not that twisty though there. The curves continue East all the way to Ted's Place and I hear the best section of this road is though Poudre Canyon, we never made it past Rustic due to rain and hail. Moderate to heavy traffic. Very nice and twisty though the state forest, but the beginning of this road is flat and straight. Visited 8/04.
