June 26, 2004 [Ride Reports]

In search of the spotted cow....

Another awesome weather weekend was in the forecast for the Midwest, so Saturday Jenya and I were off to do more riding in Wisconsin. We left my house at 9AM and before 11:00AM we were crossing the cheddar curtain. It was only in the upper 50's this morning and the high was only supposed to get to 75 degrees - perfect.

Once in Wisconsin we got on 14, the most direct route to the good roads, but unfortunately congested and slow moving too. We finally got to 92. The views were awesome from it, at times you could see for miles down below. Plenty of turns too, some posted at 20mph and not too many cars.

Went though Mt. Horeb, if you are heading West and go through the traffic circle following 92/18/151, you will see a llama farm right before the entrance to highway 18/151. For a break from the twisties, we took that to County YZ, a nice shortcut to 23.

We stopped on 23 to take some pictures at the scenic overlook and headed to Spring Green to have lunch at the Culver's. There was tons of sportbikes out today.

After lunch we headed on 60 toward Sauk City, then took 78 towards Mazomanie where we took County K South, an awesome little roads with great scenery and plenty of turns, some tight mostly sweepers, not very many cars. From there we got on 39 which winds all the way to New Glarus. There is a Spotted Cow Brewery there, I must check it out one of these days.

By now we had completed the planned route for the day and we took 69 to connect to 92, then continued on the same roads we took up to Wisconin this morning.

Awesome day and roads, got home at 8:40PM with 391 miles on the clock.
