Girl's Ride July 31, 2004 [Ride Reports]
As I pulled away from the house, I was thinking... will anyone be there? It was foggy this morning and misty rain was falling. The roads were wet and slippery since the rain wasn't hard enough to wash away the oil and dirt from the road surface.
I caught a glimpse of the McDee's parking lot as I pulled in and rode around the back. There were two bikes already there a Duc and a Superchicken, their owners inside. It was going to be the three of us today, Michelle, Colleen and I.
We waited an additional 30 minutes and by the time we left, the rain had stopped and the roads were drying out. Blue skies greeted us shortly and the sun came out. The forecast was for a sunny day in the mid to upper 80's.
Traffic was light and we headed west. I was surprised to see one of my favorite farm roads pea-graveled. This isn't Wisconsin for crying out loud. I was just on that road last weekend and it was fine. It just worked out that today we were heading out to Cherry Valley, so we didn't have to ride on the pea-gravel for too long.
We stopped by the river for some pictures and continued on our way. I was experimenting with some new roads today and actually found a nice one, but soon after I found out as my mapping software decided to play tricks on me again and I went chasing a road that may possibly not even exist.
We come upon 72 and took that instead... the wrong way at first. I need my GPS damn it. I left it at home today, since it only works for about 3 hours on the batteries. I need to hard wire it to my bike's battery.
After a break in Kingston, we rode to Oregon to have lunch. After lunch we started to headed back. I'm glad the ugly morning weather didn't discourage us from riding, it turned out to be a prefect day after all.
